STAVROS-EVDOKIMOS PANTAZOPOULOS

Dr. Stavros-Evdokimos Pantazopoulos is a post-doctoral researcher with the Toxic Crimes project of the Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights at the University of Helsinki, and a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Law, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy. Formerly, Stavros was a Researcher at the TMC Asser Institute, and the Legal and Policy Analyst of the Conflict and Environment Observatory, a UK-based NGO aiming to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of armed conflict. He obtained his Ph.D degree in international law from the European University Institute, and his scholarship focuses on the legal aspects of environmental protection during and after armed conflicts.

Stavros is a founding member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and the Chair of its Law Interest Group. He is also a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law, a Fellow at the AthensPIL, and the Managing Editor of the Yearbook of International Humanitarian Law. Stavros holds three LLM degrees in international law (University of Athens, LSE, EUI) and visited the University of Michigan Law School as Michigan Grotius Research Scholar. He has been a visiting researcher at iCourts and the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. Stavros was also a Teaching Fellow at SciencesPo, Reims campus and the University of Amsterdam. He has taught international law, international humanitarian law, international environmental law, human rights law, and law of the use of force. He has published in the fields of international humanitarian law, international environmental law, international cultural heritage law, and autonomous weapons systems.
