The Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has been awarded an important international distinction in the international moot court competition European Law Moot Court Competition 2021-2022, which took place in Madrid (24-27 March 2022). The team of undergraduate students of the Law School of the University of Athens that participated in the European Law Moot Court Competition 2021-2022 (http://www.europeanlawmootcourt.eu/) recorded a significant international distinction, as it was one of the 4 best teams of the Madrid Regional Final and, overall, one of the 8 best teams of the entire competition. The Athens Law School team consisted of undergraduate students Georgia (Gina) Kanellopoulou, Penelope (Pelia) Mandeli, Maria-Eleni (Marilena) Mavraganis and Vassilis Christodoulou, while female students Ioanna Pasia and Theodora Sfakianaki participated in the writing of the written memoranda. The European Law Moot Court Competition is one of the oldest and has been held since 1989 under the auspices of the Court of Justice of the European Union with the participation of more than 80 European and American universities, such as Columbia University, Université Paris II Pantheon-Assas, King's College London, Université de Luxembourg, Collèged'Europe. It is based on a simulated trial before the Court of Justice of the European Union and includes a written and oral procedure. A specific feature of the competition that distinguishes it from others is its bilingualism, which is also marked, as teams are asked to develop their arguments in English and French. During the months of September to November, the written submission procedure takes place, from which the 32 teams with the best written submissions are selected and qualify for the next round to compete in one of the two regional finals of the oral procedure. These finals are held in front of renowned academics, judges of the CJEU and lawyers of EU law and - for this year - free competition law. The top two teams in each regional round qualify for the Grand Final, which is held at the seat of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.
