We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday 9 January 2024, 17.15-19.00 pm, Mr Joseph Klingler, partner in the International Litigation and Arbitration Department of Foley Hoag LLP in Washington, DC, will give an online guest lecture on treaty interpretation for the course “The Law of the World Trade Organization” in the context of the 2023/24 LL.M. in International & European Law.

Mr Joseph Klingler is a partner in the International Litigation and Arbitration Department of Foley Hoag LLP in Washington, DC. His practice focuses on the representation of sovereign States and State-owned entities in public international law disputes, especially in cases before the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes. He has published extensively on matters of public international law, and is a member of the New York and District of Columbia bars. He is an expert on treaty interpretation. He has lectured at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and is co-authoring the 3rd edition of Oxford University Press’ preeminent volume Treaty Interpretation alongside Richard Gardiner, the author of the 1st and 2nd editions and the world’s leading authority on the subject.
