The team of the School of Law of NKUA and the Department of International Studies won the first place in the NILOS Moot Court Competition on the Law of the Sea 2022. In addition, the team was awarded the best applicant memorial award. The Athens School of Law and the Department of International Sudies had won second place in the same competition in 2019. The team is composed of undergraduate students Iris-Kikaterini Kaberoglou (2nd year), Angeliki Konstantara (3rd year), Marilia Platsa (3rd year), Konstantinos Psevdos (3rd year) and Evridiki Lilitsis (4th year). The team was prepared by Akis Papastavridis, Dimitris Panousos, Konstantina Meletiadou and Irini Zachariadis under the academic supervision of Professor Maria Gavouneli. This distinction proves once again the high qualification and excellent research potential of our students in the international field.

We are pleased to announce that continuing the tradition, the team representing Greece and the Athens Law School, managed to win the first place in the NILOS Moot Court Competition in Utrecht. In addition, the team won the award for best pleading on the plaintiff's side. It should be noted that Athens Law had won second place in the competition in 2019. The competition was held on 9 - 13 May 2022 online. Specifically, Greece competed in the qualifying rounds with the University of Utrecht (Netherlands), the University of Wuhan (China), the University of Jakarta and, by obtaining the best score on the plaintiff's side, managed to pass to the final where it faced for the first time the team of the University of Cyprus. In the final, the Greek team received excellent feedback from the judges and organisers both for their success and for their knowledge and preparation. This year's case involved issues of marine scientific research, cable laying, access to ports and historical rights of two coastal states. In particular, students had the opportunity to address issues such as fisheries, protection of the marine environment and freedom of navigation.

The Athens School of Law team was composed of undergraduate students Iris - Ekaterini Kaberoglou (2nd year), Angeliki Konstantara (3rd year), Marilia Platsa (3rd year), Konstantinos Psevdos (3rd year) and Evridiki Lilitsis (4th year). The team was prepared by Efthimios Papastavridis, Dimitrios Panousios, Konstantina Meletiadou and Irini Zachariadis, while the academic supervision was undertaken by Professor Maria Gavouneli. This distinction proves, once again, the high level of training and research skills of the students of the Law School of the University of Athens as well as the high level of its students internationally.
