PROFESSOR LINOS ALEXANDROS SICILIANOS WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE HAGUE ACADEMY OF INTERNATIONAL LAW
Meeting in Plenary Session on 23–24 May 2026 in Istanbul, the Curatorium of The Hague Academy of International Law - Académie de droit international de La Haye elected our very own, Professor Linos Alexandros Sicilianos, as its new President.
Professor Sicilianos — former Dean of the School of Law of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, former President of the European Court of Human Rights and President of the Hellenic Society of International Law & International Relations — succeeds Professor Diego P. Fernández Arroyo, to whom the Curatorium paid tribute, with warm thanks for his dedicated contribution to the Academy's work from 2009 to 2026.
Founded in 1923 and housed in the Peace Palace alongside the International Court of Justice, the The Hague Academy of International Law - Académie de droit international de La Haye stands as the world's pre-eminent institution for the teaching and study of public and private international law.
