DISTINCTION OF THE TEAM REPRESENTING THE SCHOOL OF LAW OF THE NKUA AT THE 2025 PHILIP C. JESSUP INTERNATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION
The participation of the group of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the global round of the International Moot Court Competition "Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition White and Case International Rounds", which took place from March 29 to April 5, 2025 in Washington, D.C., USA, was crowned with success. Jessup is the oldest, largest and most emblematic international moot court competition in the world with topics covering the entire subject of public international law, in which the School of Law consistently participates with memorable distinctions.
This year's team from the School of Law of the National University of Athens, consisting of undergraduate students Anthi Maria, Manolis Aspasia, Manolitsi Styliani, Mitsiou Fotini-Frinta and postgraduate student Geier Dominik Alexander, qualified for the international final phase of the competition, where it distinguished itself among 162 teams from all over the world. This year's team, managing to win 3 out of 4 qualifying rounds, qualified for the second consecutive year in the next phase of the 48 best teams of the competition, achieving 39th place in the final ranking.
At the same time, Mitsiou Fotini-Frinta emerged as the 17th best speaker among 512 speakers and was honored with the Ved P. Nanda Award, which marks the highest distinction of the School of Law in the international phase of this competition.
The team's successful preparation for both the national and international rounds was carried out under the academic supervision of Professor of International Law Maria Gavouneli, Assistant Professor of International Law Efthymios Papastavridis, Anagnostopoulou Efpraxia (former contestant and final year student of the undergraduate department of the Athens Law School), Zeris Ioannis (former contestant and student of the undergraduate department of the Athens Law School) and Sdrali Kalypso-Sofia, (former contestant, holder of a Master's degree in Public International and European Law and lawyer).
