Would you like to plead before the International Court of Justice?

The Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens invites applications for participation in its team for the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2027, the world's oldest, largest, and most prestigious international moot court competition. The Competition is organized under the auspices of the International Law Students Association (ILSA) and White & Case LLP.

For more than six decades, the Jessup Competition has served as a benchmark of excellence in legal education, bringing together law students from across the globe. Each year, hundreds of universities and thousands of participants engage in a demanding yet highly rewarding experience that combines rigorous academic research with the practical application of Public International Law at the highest level.

The 2027 edition of the Competition marks a historic milestone. For the first time in its 67-year history, the International Rounds will be held outside the United States. This year's International Rounds will take place in Toronto, Canada, from 28 March to 4 April 2027, welcoming leading law school teams from around the world.

Undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens are invited to submit their applications by sending an email to jessupathens2026@gmail.com  no later than Sunday, 28 June 2026. The email should bear the subject line: "Jessup Application 2027_Full Name" (using Latin characters) and should include a complete curriculum vitae in English.

Following the evaluation of applications, shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in the next stage of the selection process, consisting of an interview. Further information regarding the selection procedure and interview schedule will be communicated to applicants in due course.

The Jessup 2027 Compromis addresses some of the most complex and pressing issues of contemporary international law. Participants will be required to engage with legal questions concerning:

a. Gender Apartheid

b. Mass Migration

c. The Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Context of International Sanctions and

d. The Legal Consequences of Coups d' État.

These topics highlight some of the most significant challenges facing the international community in the twenty-first century and provide participants with a unique opportunity to develop advanced advocacy, research, and legal writing skills in an international setting. We encourage all interested students with a passion for international law, legal advocacy, and academic excellence to apply!
