Seminar II (PIL) – Guest Lecture by Dr. Anna Ventouratou 30.05.2024, 19.00-21.00

On Thursday 30 May, from 19.00-21.00, Dr Anna Ventouratou, will be delivering a lecture in the context of the 2023/24 LL.M. in International & European Law.

Dr Anna Ventouratou is an international lawyer with expertise in international economic law. She joined the University of Sheffield in May 2022 as a Lecturer in International Trade Law and convene the UG and PG International Trade Law modules at the School of Law. She is also the International Mooting module's convenor and the Sheffield team's academic advisor, participating in the John H. Jackson WTO Moot Court Competition. Her expertise and research interests lie in diverse areas of Public International Law, including international dispute settlement, the law on State responsibility, and the law of treaties, with a particular focus on their application in the context of international trade and investment disputes. Her current research projects focus on gender and trade and the legality of economic sanctions. She has studied law at the University of Oxford (DPhil; MPhil; MJur), the University of Athens (LLM in Public International Law; LLB), and Columbia Law School (Fulbright-Schuman Visiting Scholar). She has taught Public International Law as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Oxford Law Faculty and as a tutor in law at several Oxford colleges and also has extensive experience in international mooting. From 2018 to 2020, she was the Oxford Law Faculty mooting coordinator. She has coached the Jessup teams of both the Athens Law School (2016) and the University of Oxford (2018), as well as the Athens WTO team (2015). As a team member, she was part of the Athens Law School team for the 2011 Jessup International Law Moot Court (ranked 15/140 at the International Rounds; 3rd best applicant memorial award) and the 2014 WTO Moot Court (won the World Finals).
